Nottinghamshire Hospice Light up a Life
Light up a Life is the time people come together to remember and celebrate loved ones who are no longer with us.
This remembrance event will take place on Saturday 10 December in Nottingham City Centre, and start with a torch-lit walk from the Brian Clough statue in Old Market Square around 4.15pm, to the Robin Hood statue at Nottingham Castle.
This event, open to the whole community, will include the lighting of the Nottinghamshire Hospice Christmas at Castle Gate and is a wonderful opportunity to gather together, sing traditional carols and remember the lives of those no longer with us.
Nottinghamshire Hospice is a registered charity which aims to add life to days for people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire that have been told that their illness cannot be cured. The charity helps people who are thought to be in the last year of their life to live as actively and well as possible with care that puts the highest value on dignity, choice and respect.
The help and care the hospice provide to patients, and their loved ones, is holistic. They offer compassionate nursing care to help meet physical needs, social support to help tackle loneliness or isolation and counselling and chaplaincy to support spiritual needs.
Every year Nottinghamshire Hospice has to raise £2.7 million to provide palliative care across the county – that’s over £7,000 a day. Access to Day Therapy, Hospice at Home and Bereavement services is free of charge and is only made possible through the generous support of the community through kind donations and support through fundraising events and challenges.
