Christmas at the Castle

Celebrate the festive season at Nottingham Castle.

Pick up a vintage gift in the museum shop or a traditional decoration in the gatehouse’s Christmas shop. Enjoy a mince pie, mulled wine and the festive fayre in the Castle Café or treat yourself to a deliciously festive afternoon tea.

Explore the Castle’s grounds, museum and art galleries while following the Christmas trail and leave a wish on the Christmas tree. Make a paperchain or write a letter to Santa… or make a reservation to see the man himself in the bastion.

As night falls on 3 and 10 December, collect your lantern at the gate and hear the Castle’s intriguing history as you wander the grounds and descend into the caves by candlelight, warming up with some festive refreshments afterwards. Or, on 16 December, hear how events over the past 1,000 years have left their imprint on the Castle’s very stones and meet the ghosts of Christmases past.
