Siddhartha followed by Q&A with Simi Garewal

Based on the Hermann Hesse novel of the same name, American filmmaker Conrad Rooks’ revered classic Siddhartha is a curious little gem. Featuring an all Indian cast for what is essentially an American movie, the visually stunning film centres on young Siddhartha’s (the late Shashi Kapoor) quest to find meaning in life, for which he travels with holy men and explores sensuality with a courtesan (Simi Garewal). Siddhartha features the now iconic nude scene which caused uproar with the Indian censor board at the time.
