Azmaish: A Journey Through the Subcontinent - Edinburgh, Filmhouse

Filmmaker Sabiha Sumar, one of Pakistan’s most prominent documentarians and Indian actor Kalki Koechlin take an inspiring journey through India and Pakistan, uncovering the common humanity beyond the divisive political rhetoric, in an attempt to look at the people beneath the politics.

Sumar and Koechlin travel the two countries meeting people and asking questions aimed at addressing one fundamental concern: how did growing fundamentalism bring Pakistan and India to this dangerous threshold? Azmaish is a film of economic, cultural and above all personal discovery, aimed at both identifying our similarities and celebrating our differences. The film promises to take you on a journey to understand two fascinating cultures in a way few others previously have.
